Frequently asked questions

How do I import my Kindle highlights?

Open the Library tab and tap Import → Kindle. On your Mac or PC, plug in your Kindle, find the file at documents/My Clippings.txt, and share it to Ember. The app parses it, groups highlights by book, and skips any duplicates of highlights you've already saved.

How does the spaced-repetition review work?

Every day, Ember surfaces a small set of highlights to review. The schedule mixes new material with highlights you've seen before — review intervals grow each time you remember a quote (3 days, 7 days, 14 days, 21 days, 31 days) and shrink if you skip. The goal is to keep your library working without overwhelming you.

What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?

Nothing leaves your device. All your highlights, sources, tags, and notes stay exactly where they are. The daily-review feature locks behind the paywall, but everything you've collected remains visible, searchable, and exportable. If you resubscribe later, you pick up where you left off.

Does Ember sync between iPhone, iPad, and Mac?

Yes, through your private iCloud account. Sync is optional — if you turn it off, your library lives on the device where you created it. We never see your highlights; sync runs entirely through Apple's iCloud infrastructure.

How do I cancel my subscription or restore a purchase?

Cancel: Open the iOS or Mac App Store app → tap your profile picture → Subscriptions → Ember Pro → Cancel Subscription.
